Athens, Greece Destination Wedding
My cousin Giota’s wedding in Athens, Greece! My first official destination wedding 🙂 Two years ago on my last trip to Greece, I told my cousin that when she gets married I will come and photograph her wedding. I am so happy I was able to keep my word.
So a few things about a Greek wedding in Greece, the party starts while the bride is getting ready and ends sometime in the morning. We all lasted until about 5am! But because the party goes until morning everything starts really late. I was able to make it to the venue and take some daytime shots.
The church was so beautiful, right next to the beach! Andrea waited for Giota at the church to give her her bouquet once she arrived, super sweet! My cousin looked so beautiful in her two piece dress. And I can’t believe she lasted all night in her five inch heels! It’s tradition to throw rice while the couple walks around in a circle during the ceremony. Let’s just say I still have some rice in my camera bag.
Due to the ceremony starting later into the evening, we scheduled their alone session two days after the wedding. The outdoor venue was so lovely. I got teary eyed during their first dance. It was awesome to eventually join the party, dance with all my family, I miss them so much. Can’t wait to share their day after session on the beautiful island of Serifos! Make sure to check out their engagement session here.
